"I Left, Not Divorced" – Veteran Actress Tola Oladokun Opens Up on Marriage, Career, and Choosing Peace

Veteran Yoruba actress Tola Oladokun has broken her silence on a deeply personal decision—moving out of her husband’s house—not due to conflict, but in search of peace and understanding.
In a candid interview with Oyinmomo TV, the celebrated actress clarified that there was no major marital crisis, but rather a conscious choice to live separately after her husband decided to take multiple wives. “I still bear his surname, ‘Oladokun’. But my husband has his house, and God helped me build mine. So, I left my husband’s house and moved into my own house. However, I told him I’ll visit on weekends,” she said.
Oladokun, known for her iconic roles in Yoruba cinema, used the opportunity to reflect on the harsh realities she faced as a married woman in the entertainment industry. She recalled how society often painted female actors unfairly, accusing them of being unfaithful or morally questionable simply because of their profession.
Despite the challenges, she emphasized that her marriage is intact and there has been no official separation or divorce. Her story is a reminder that sometimes, redefining the terms of coexistence can be a powerful step toward harmony—especially for women navigating both tradition and ambition.
