Lil Nas X Reportedly Detained in Los Angeles After Wandering Streets in Underwear and Cowboy Boots.
Rapper Lil Nas X was reportedly taken into police custody early Thursday after being spotted wandering through Los Angeles wearing nothing but his underwear and a pair of white cowboy boots.
Footage obtained by TMZ appeared to show the “Old Town Road” star strutting down a near-empty thoroughfare in Studio City, engaging with a passerby who was recording him. In the clip, he repeatedly urged the person “Don’t be late to the party tonight,” though it was unclear which party he was referring to.
At one point, the 25-year-old artist asked to take the onlooker’s phone, saying he wanted to throw it away because he didn’t like cameras. “Didn’t I tell you to put the phone down? Uh-oh, somebody’s gonna have to pay for that,” he added while playfully wagging his finger.
Photos later published by TMZ also showed the rapper balancing a traffic cone on his head. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers were called to the area just before dawn after reports of a nude man walking in the street.
An LAPD spokesperson told AFP that the individual allegedly charged at officers upon their arrival. He was subdued, taken to a hospital for a possible overdose, and subsequently placed under arrest for battery on a police officer.
Police did not officially confirm the man’s identity, and representatives for Lil Nas X have yet to comment.
