Sean “Diddy” Combs is scheduled to face trial for racketeering and sex trafficking on May 5, 2025, following a court hearing on Thursday. Federal Judge Arun Subramanian announced that Combs will remain in custody after being indicted last month on three criminal charges, which allege he sexually abused women and coerced them into participating in drug-fueled sex parties through threats and violence.
The music mogul has been denied bail twice due to prosecutors' concerns about potential witness tampering and has pleaded not guilty to all charges. As Combs entered the courtroom, he was seen greeting his mother and children, dressed in a wrinkled light-colored shirt and pants.
Prosecutor Emily Johnson indicated that further evidence is still being reviewed, mentioning the seizure of 96 electronic devices in March, which could lead to additional charges.
Allegations against Combs have escalated since last year, when singer Cassie, whose full name is Casandra Ventura, claimed that he subjected her to over a decade of coercive behavior involving physical force and drugs, including a rape incident in 2018.
Numerous civil lawsuits have since emerged, depicting Combs as a violent individual who exploited his celebrity status to prey on women. Lawyers representing more than 100 individuals claiming to have been assaulted or exploited by Combs, some of whom were children, have announced plans for further legal actions.
This surge of allegations has drawn attention to a culture in the music industry that many believe fosters widespread sexual misconduct.
