The recent political crisis in Rivers State, where Governor Siminalayi Fubara expressed concern over being singled out by President Bola Tinubu regarding the destruction of local government secretariats.

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has voiced his concern regarding President Bola Tinubu’s decision to single him out in a recent statement addressing the destruction of local government secretariats in the state.

For over a year, Fubara has been locked in a political feud with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike. During an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, Fubara shared his unease over Tinubu’s focus on him amid the ongoing crisis.

Violent clashes erupted across four local government areas, with parts of the Eleme, Ikwerre, and Emohua council buildings set on fire by political thugs. In Ahoada East, gunfire broke out in an attempt to block the newly elected council officials from assuming office. The violence escalated after police officers withdrew from the 23 local government secretariats earlier that day.
