A fire has destroyed a section of the Eleme Local Government Council secretariat in Rivers State, with no arrests made so far, and no official police statement on the incident.

Former Ambassador Oji Ngofa, a native of Eleme, confirmed in a phone conversation that the newly elected chairman, Brain Gokpa, arrived at the secretariat with councilors and supporters, only to find parts of the building engulfed in flames.

This development has sparked concerns about possible violence in the area, as tensions rise following the recent Rivers Local Government Elections, which were won by the Action Peoples Party (APP). Although the full details remain unclear, the situation is being closely monitored.
