On Monday, President Bola Tinubu presided over the swearing-in of newly appointed members of key commissions, including the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), the Federal Character Commission (FCC), and the National Population Commission (NPC). The ceremony also saw the appointment of eight former directors from the Federal Civil Service as Permanent Secretaries.

The swearing-in took place at the Council Chamber just before the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting. According to a statement by Bayo Onanuga, the President's Special Adviser on Information & Strategy, 21 members of the RMAFC, one new member for both the FCC and NPC, took their oaths of office during the event.

Appointment of Permanent Secretaries

The new Permanent Secretaries were selected through a rigorous process that included written and oral examinations as well as an ICT competency test. Among those sworn in was Dr. Onwusoro Ihemelandu, an optometrist and World Bank-certified procurement expert from Abia State, who has a distinguished career in the Federal Civil Service.

Also appointed were Philip Ebiogeh Ndiomu from Bayelsa State, who has a background in agricultural development and has empowered thousands of vulnerable groups in the Niger Delta, and Dr. Anuma Nlia from Ebonyi State, a medical doctor with vast experience in healthcare administration.

Other notable appointees include Chinasa Nnam Ogbodo, an accountant from Enugu State with significant experience in public finance, and Dr. Kalba Danjuma Usman, a renowned medical doctor from Gombe State who pioneered LASER surgery in Nigeria.

 

The swearing-in also included Dr. Salihu Aminu Usman from Kebbi State, who has a background in accounting and business management, and Patience Nwakuso Oyekunle from Rivers State, who has contributed significantly to policy formulation in humanitarian affairs.

Additionally, Engr. Nadungu Gagare from Kaduna State, an agricultural engineer recognized for his work in mechanized agriculture, was appointed, along with several other dedicated professionals from various states.

The list of new appointees includes individuals from across Nigeria, including those from Abia, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Benue, Cross River, Delta, Edo, Ekiti, Enugu, Gombe, Katsina, Kano, Lagos, Nasarawa, Niger, Ogun, Ondo, Plateau, Yobe, and Zamfara States.

Along with the Permanent Secretaries, Kayode Oladele was sworn in as a Federal Commissioner for the Federal Character Commission (FCC), while Pastor (Mrs.) Iyantan Olukemi Victoria took the oath of office as the Federal Commissioner for the National Population Commission (NPC).

President Tinubu congratulated all the appointees and expressed confidence in their abilities to contribute positively to Nigeria’s development. He urged them to maintain professionalism and dedication as they embark on their new roles in public service.
