Peter Obi, former presidential candidate, and Afrobeats sensation Davido have both expressed their pride in Tems following her impressive win at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards on Monday.
Tems, whose real name is Temilade Openiyi, clinched the 'Best African Music Performance' award for her hit song "Love Me Jeje," surpassing notable nominees such as Davido, Yemi Alade, Asake, Wizkid, Lojay, and Burna Boy.
In his message, Obi shared his pride in Nigerian youth, particularly in entertainment, acknowledging their contributions to the global stage. "I am ever elated by the huge success Nigerian youths are making, especially in the entertainment sector," he wrote. "Congratulations to our Afrobeats star, Tems, for securing her second Grammy Award. We also celebrate other Nigerian artists nominated for their work. Nigeria is truly putting itself on the global map," Obi added.
Obi also expressed his commitment to empowering Nigerian youth, saying he remains dedicated to creating opportunities for them to thrive.
Davido also took to social media, posting, "Congratulations to my one and only @chrisbrown! And to the Queen @temsbaby. We are proud of you!" His message highlighted his admiration and pride for his fellow artist.
Tems' win marks her second Grammy victory. In 2023, she took home her first Grammy in the 'Best Melodic Rap Performance' category for her contribution to Future’s hit song "Wait for U," which also featured Drake.
Her continued success is a testament to the global influence of Nigerian artists, with her accolades continuing to inspire the next generation.
