Afrobeats sensation Davido has congratulated his fellow artist Tems for winning the “Best African Music Performance” category at the 67th Grammy Awards. Tems clinched the Grammy with her hit song Love Me Jeje, marking her second Grammy win. She had previously earned the prestigious award for her contribution to Future’s chart-topping track Wait For U.

Davido shared his excitement on Instagram, posting a photo of Tems and writing, “Congrats Queen!”

The “Best African Music Performance” category was introduced by the Recording Academy just last year. This year, Tems competed against several notable artists including Yemi Alade with Tomorrow, Asake’s MMS, Chris Brown’s Sensational (featuring Davido & Lojay), and Burna Boy’s Higher.

In its debut, the award was won by South Africa’s Tyla for her hit Water, blending South African amapiano with Afropop.

During her acceptance speech, Tems paid a heartfelt tribute to her mother. "Tomorrow is my mum’s birthday and this is her first Grammys," she said, visibly emotional. "I just want to thank you, ma, because she has really done a lot for me and my brother. Happy birthday, mum.”

She continued, expressing gratitude to her team and support system, saying, “I want to thank my team. Muyiwa, Wale, my beautiful stylist Dunsin, and my lovely girls… I love you guys."

Tems concluded, "To God be the glory. Honestly, He has changed my life so much. Thank you, Thank you, God."
