Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has ordered the immediate release of N548 million to the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) Endwell Scheme, which had been withheld by the previous administration.

The release of the funds has resolved a long-standing industrial dispute between the NUT and the Kaduna State Government.

Announcing the development at a news conference, the acting Executive Secretary of the Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board (KASUBEB), Mubarak Mohammed, stated that the resolution came after extensive negotiations between both parties.

As part of the agreement, the NUT Endwell Scheme will undergo structural reforms to improve efficiency and accountability.

“The NUT Endwell Fund consists of statutory deductions from teachers’ salaries meant to support them during service and retirement,” Mohammed explained.

He further disclosed that all legal disputes concerning the fund would be discontinued, allowing the NUT to manage the scheme independently.

Mohammed emphasized Governor Uba Sani’s commitment to education and teachers’ welfare since assuming office in May 2023. He noted the administration's efforts to enhance access to quality education, increase student enrollment and retention, and improve learning conditions in primary and secondary schools.

Kaduna State NUT Chairman, Ibrahim Dalhatu, expressed gratitude to the governor for resolving the dispute, stating that the released funds would significantly enhance teachers’ welfare.
