The recent explosion in the Sabon Pegi community of Mashegu Local Government Area in Niger State has been attributed to the reckless storage of dynamite in residential areas, according to the state’s police commissioner, Shawulu Danmamman.

Danmamman further alleged that the explosives had been concealed by members of the community, highlighting the importance of public cooperation in preventing such dangerous incidents. He made the statements during a press briefing at the police command headquarters in Minna, North Central Nigeria.

The commissioner stressed the role of the public in reporting suspicious activities or movements, emphasizing that timely reports can help avoid similar occurrences in the future.

The briefing also provided updates on recent arrests made in the state, including suspects involved in vandalizing street light facilities, and the seizure of 520 rounds of live ammunition.
