In a show of diplomatic appreciation, President Bola Tinubu commended Finland for its timely intervention in the case of Simon Ekpa, whose actions were seen as a threat to Nigeria's unity.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended the Finnish government for its swift intervention in the case of Simon Ekpa, whose actions had posed a threat to Nigeria’s unity and peaceful coexistence.
Speaking at the State House in Abuja on Friday, President Tinubu expressed gratitude during his reception of the Finnish Ambassador to Nigeria, Ms. Sanna Selin, who presented her Letters of Credence. The President praised Finland for safeguarding Nigeria’s integrity and emphasized the importance of cooperation in promoting stability and development.
“Nigeria is indivisible. We have experienced turbulent times and must prioritize cohesion and cooperation to move the nation forward,” Tinubu said. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the rule of law, which he described as the cornerstone of democracy and national values.
The Finnish Ambassador acknowledged President Tinubu’s courage in initiating reforms aimed at driving Nigeria’s growth and prosperity. She highlighted opportunities for collaboration between Finland and Nigeria, particularly in areas like ICT, energy, agriculture, and education.
President Tinubu also met with the Ambassador of the European Union, Mr. Gautier Mignot, and the Ambassador of Algeria, Hocine Mezoued. He emphasized strengthening Nigeria’s trade relationships with the EU and advancing regional projects such as the trans-Saharan African Gas Pipeline in collaboration with Algeria.
These diplomatic engagements underscore President Tinubu’s focus on fostering international cooperation to address security challenges, boost economic growth, and solidify Nigeria’s global partnerships.
