President Bola Tinubu has appointed several individuals, including the Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, as the board chairman of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN). Additionally, Senator Bashiru Ajibola, APC National Secretary, has been appointed as the chairman of the National Sugar Development Council (NSDC).

The announcement was made on Friday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President (Information & Strategy). The statement also highlighted that President Tinubu appointed new board chairpersons for 42 federal organizations, as well as a new secretary for the board of the Civil Defence, Immigration, and Prisons Services.

Other key appointments include:

  • Sulaiman Argungu as Chairman of the Nigeria Bulk Electricity Trading Company.
  • Magnus Abe, former Senator and ally of President Tinubu, as Chairman of the National Agency for the Great Green Wall.
  • Raji Kazeem Kolawole as Director-General of the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI).

The President directed the new board chairpersons not to interfere with the management of the organizations, emphasizing that their roles are non-executive.

Here are additional significant appointments:

  • National Youth Service Corps, Ministry of Youth Development: Hon. Hillard Eta (Chairman)
  • Nigerian Institute of International Affairs: Prof. Bolaji Akinyemi (Chairman)
  • National Teachers Institute: Barr. Festus Fuanter (Chairman)
  • Industrial Training Fund: Hon. Hamma Adama Ali Kumo (Chairman)
  • National Institute of Science Laboratory Technology: Donatus Enyinnah Nwankpa (Chairman)

The full list includes appointments across various sectors, including health, education, technology, and the environment. All of these appointments take immediate effect.

President Tinubu also appointed a new Managing Director for the Nigerian Railway Corporation and emphasized that the newly appointed board chairpersons are to remain non-executive in their capacities, focusing on overseeing the organizations without direct involvement in day-to-day management.
