Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun has announced the deployment of 10,000 newly trained police constables to their respective states of origin to enhance community policing efforts.

According to a statement by Force Spokesperson ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi on Thursday, the constables recently completed a six-month intensive training at various police colleges.

Egbetokun further disclosed that the Nigerian Police Force aims to recruit 30,000 constables annually, in line with President Bola Tinubu's directive, to bolster the nation’s internal security and police performance.

Speaking at the Passing Out Parade held at the Police Training School in Bauchi, where he was represented by Bauchi State Police Commissioner Auwal Muhammad, Egbetokun emphasized the importance of professionalism, fairness, and friendliness in the duties of the new officers.

"The exercise marks the culmination of a rigorous training program, transitioning these recruits into professional police officers committed to serving the nation," he said.

The IG explained that the passing-out exercises were held across four premier colleges and 12 police training schools nationwide. He highlighted that the training program instilled essential policing ethics, modern law enforcement principles, and strategies to tackle complex security challenges.

Egbetokun expressed confidence in the new officers, stating that their training would prepare them to meet the nation’s security needs while adhering to legal principles.

He added, “The President’s approval of 30,000 annual police recruits will strengthen internal security, enhance police performance, and ensure better service delivery nationwide."
