The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended 37 individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud, commonly known as ‘Yahoo Boys,’ in Awka, Anambra State. The arrests were made during a sting operation at the Commissioners’ Quarters, Dr. J. O. Ukwutinife Close, in the city’s Ifite area.

According to the EFCC’s statement on X, all the suspects are male, and their detentions stemmed from intelligence linking them to fraudulent internet activities.

Items recovered during the operation included six luxury cars, as well as laptops and mobile phones. The agency confirmed that the suspects will be charged in court once investigations are complete.
