Barely days after Governor Chukwuma Soludo launched the joint security force Operation Udo ga-achị ("Peace must reign") in Anambra State, a neurosurgeon from Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH), Nnewi, was abducted.

The victim, Dr. Collinus Onuigbo, was kidnapped late Tuesday in front of his residence, just meters from the hospital. His family, deeply concerned, has been working tirelessly to ensure his safe release.

The Anambra State Police Command confirmed the incident. State Police PRO, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that the command had initiated operations to rescue the victim. He noted that the Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Obono-Itam, ordered an immediate manhunt based on available clues.

The abduction comes as Anambra implements strategic measures to combat crime and restore security in the state.
