The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially clarified the ownership status of its newly commissioned national headquarters in Abuja, following public speculation tying the building to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

According to Symfoni TV (Monday, November 17, 2025), ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi confirmed that Atiku once occupied the property—but strictly as a tenant during his presidential campaign.

Abdullahi emphasized that Atiku never owned the building, and that his lease had since expired, clearing the way for the ADC to take over legally.

He stated:

“It’s true, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar used to be the tenant of this building for his presidential campaign. When his tenancy lapsed, the African Democratic Congress became the new tenant. At no time did this building belong to Atiku Abubakar.”

The party further stressed that their move into the building is purely a commercial tenancy and should not be interpreted as a new political alignment or merger beyond the existing coalition framework.

Abdullahi added:

“He leased it for the purpose of his campaign, that lease has ceased, and now the tenancy is occupied by the African Democratic Congress.”

The clarification was made to dispel rumors suggesting the ADC’s new headquarters signified deeper political ties or strategic deals with Atiku.

This development was revealed in a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Monday in Kano.

The inauguration follows the signing of the Kano Emirates Council Law (Repeal Bill) 2024, which dissolved the five emirate councils established under former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, returning Kano to its historic unified emirate structure.

Speaking at the ceremony held at the Government House Coronation Hall, Governor Yusuf emphasized that reinstating the Council aims to strengthen peace, stability, and development across Kano State.

He described the traditional institution as “a pillar of history, guardian of values, custodian of heritage, and an indispensable partner in governance.”

Governor Yusuf added that the Council is expected to serve as a central platform where royal fathers can meet, deliberate, and provide meaningful guidance on issues affecting the people.

The Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, expressed confidence that the restored Council will significantly contribute to the state's development.

Earlier, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Chieftaincy Affairs, Prof. Tijjani Muhammad Naniya, traced the historical roots of the Kano Emirate, highlighting its over 700-year legacy of unity under one Emir.

Responding on behalf of the Emirs, Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II commended Governor Yusuf's leadership and pledged the full support of the Emirates toward the progress and stability of Kano State.

The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on all Nigerians to take decisive action to protect children from sexual exploitation and abuse.
She made this appeal in Abuja on Tuesday during the commemoration of the World Day for the Prevention of and Healing from Child Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse 2025.

This year’s global theme is:
“Strengthening the Protection of Children Against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse Through Evidence-Based Policy Making.”

Mrs Tinubu stressed that child protection must be a shared responsibility, urging parents, leaders, institutions, and young people to unite in building a society where children feel safe, valued, and protected.

“As a nation, we must ensure that every child grows up free from fear and harm,” she said.
She further emphasized that true protection requires more than speeches — it demands evidence-driven policies, accurate data, effective research, and actionable collaboration.

She called on government agencies, civil society, traditional and religious leaders, and communities to work collectively in creating safe spaces where children can thrive without the threat of abuse.

The World Day, observed every November 18, was created in 2015 by the Council of Europe and later recognized by the United Nations in 2022 to raise awareness, reduce stigma, support survivors, and strengthen global response to child sexual abuse.

"Our Goal Is To Use Education To End Poverty", President Tinubu Tells Duke of Edinburgh.

President Bola Tinubu emphasized that his administration’s economic and institutional reforms aim to equip Nigerian youths with globally competitive skills to secure their future. Speaking during a meeting with the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Edward, at the State House, Abuja, on Monday, Tinubu stated, “Our goal is to use education to drive down poverty.”

Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, revealed that discussions also covered plans for the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award events in Lagos.

Tinubu highlighted that Nigeria’s participation in the G-20 this week will focus on youth empowerment and economic growth, stressing that reforms prioritize demography, skills development, and opportunities for young people.

He noted the introduction of a special education loan fund to ensure university students receive support to complete their studies, alongside broader reforms to enhance infrastructure, including fibre optics, security, and crime reduction initiatives. Tinubu also acknowledged humanitarian agencies for their role in supporting terrorism victims.

Finance Minister Wale Edun briefed attendees on the country’s median age of 17 and explained that policies are designed to expand youth participation, skill acquisition, and growth prospects. Prince Edward praised Nigeria’s reforms and highlighted the Lagos events, where 320 youths will be recognized for pursuing their passions, developing skills, and contributing to national development.

Also present were the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Sir Richard Montgomery; the Duke’s Private Secretary, Alex Potts; the Award’s Secretary-General, Martin Houghton-Brown; and International Trustee Muhoho Kenyatta.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is a global program promoting non-formal education through schools, youth organizations, and community groups to develop skills, resilience, and service among young people.

The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has stated that most b+ndit leaders and their followers have been neutralised, noting that only a few scattered elements remain. He added that President Bola Tinubu has directed Operation FANSAN YAMMA troops to eliminate the remaining bandits in the North-West.

SaharaReporters previously reported that the Kebbi State Police confirmed the abduction of at least 25 students from the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, Danko/Wasagu LGA, on Monday morning.

The attack by heavily armed bandits resulted in the d+ath of one staff member and injury to another, CSP Nafi’u Abubakar Kotarkoshi said. The incident reportedly occurred around 4am, with assailants engaging police officers in a gun battle.

Matawalle made his remarks during a visit to the Theatre Command Headquarters, following Juma’at prayers at the Command Mosque.

According to his Director of Information, Ibrahim Sule, he conveyed President Tinubu’s appreciation for the troops’ courage, patriotism, and achievements in dismantling bandit formations across the Northwest.

He told the soldiers: “Most key bandit leaders and their foot soldiers have been neutralised through your gallant effort. What remains now are scattered elements, and the Commander-in-Chief has directed that these must be completely eliminated. You have every support needed logistics, equipment, welfare, and morale to finish the job.”

Matawalle was received by Theatre Commander Maj. Gen. Warrah Bello Idris, who briefed him on recent operations, including neutralising high-value targets and reclaiming communities previously under bandit control. The minister praised the troops’ resilience, calling their sacrifices the foundation for peace returning to Zamfara and neighbouring states.

Addressing officers and soldiers, Matawalle urged sustained vigilance and discipline, assuring them that total victory was near. “Your sacrifices will never be in vain. The President, the nation, and soon the people of this region will sleep peacefully,” he declared.

Kebbi Governor Assures Parents of Efforts to Rescue Abducted School girls.

Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has assured families of the abducted students from Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS), Maga, that all necessary steps are being taken to secure their release.

The governor gave the assurance on Monday during a visit to Maga, where he met with security agencies, traditional rulers, and the affected parents behind closed doors.

“The unfortunate thing has already happened. They have abducted our children. We came here, we saw things for ourselves, and we met the parents whose children were taken,” Idris said.

“We gave them confidence and our word that we will do everything possible to ensure their children are rescued.

Former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, has launched a new verbal attack on ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, calling him “very irresponsible” and claiming he “belongs to the zoo” in a controversial message sent after his 65th birthday celebration.

According to Sahara Reporters, the SMS, intended as a note of appreciation, was sent on Sunday and made public on Monday by Obasanjo’s media aide, Kehinde Akinyemi. According to Akinyemi, what arrived as a “thank you” message quickly turned into a scathing tirade.

The latest outburst, coming immediately after a birthday celebration, is one of the most dramatic episodes in their nearly two-decade feud.

In the text, Fayose wrote, “Your coming to my birthday party, I appreciate except for your very irresponsible comments at your age… someone once said you are supposed to be kept away in the zoo. It is also obvious that you have lost your sanity or should I say heightened dementia.” He also demanded a refund of money he claimed Obasanjo received from him, adding, “Your leopard will never change his skin.”

Obasanjo replied briefly: “Ayo, thanks for your ‘Thank You’ message which undisguisedly revealed who and what you are… Your money has been sent back through Foluso Adeagbo… in the same bag he brought it.”

Fayose and Obasanjo have a long history of political confrontation dating back to 2006, following Fayose’s controversial removal from office—a move his supporters blamed on the former president. Their rivalry has since played out in repeated public criticisms and sharp exchanges.

Tanzanian President Appoints Daughter and Son-in-law as Ministers.

Tanzania’s President Samia Hassan has appointed her daughter and son-in-law as ministers in her newly formed government. In a nationwide broadcast on Monday, Mrs. Hassan, who was declared the winner of the October 29 presidential election, named 27 ministers and 29 deputy ministers, including her family members.

Wanu Hafidh Amei, the president’s daughter, was named deputy minister for education, science, and technology, while her husband, Mohamed Mchengerwa, took over as health minister. In other appointments, Tanzania’s ambassador to China, Khamis Mussa Omar, became finance minister, while Adolf Mkenda retained his role as education, science, and technology minister.

Seven former ministers were removed, but Anthony Mavunde and Mahmoud Thabit Kombo were retained as mining and foreign affairs ministers, respectively.

Mrs. Hassan’s re-election has attracted criticism due to violent protests, an internet shutdown, and a crackdown on demonstrators.

The United Nations has called for thorough investigations into reported deaths, warning that authorities may be concealing evidence. Opposition party CHADEMA, whose candidate Tundu Lissu was barred from the election, claims about 700 people were killed and refuses to recognize Mrs. Hassan as president.

The African Union deemed the election not credible, while the European Union, Southern African Development Community, and missions from the UK, Canada, and Norway condemned the fatalities, suppression of opposition, and internet restrictions during the polls.
