Israeli National Rescued by Police, Military, and Hunters in Taraba

An Israeli national, Gil Itamar, was rescued after a fierce gunfight with armed criminals who kidnapped him along the Takum/Chanchangi Road in Taraba.

The Taraba State Police Command, in partnership with the military and local hunters, successfully rescued a kidnapped foreign national on April 3, 2025.

The victim, Gil Itamar, an Israeli national and employee of SCC company, was abducted by armed criminals in the Atim Community along the Takum/Chanchangi Road in Taraba State.

According to a press release from the Taraba State Police Command, the kidnapping was reported at approximately 10:30 AM on April 3. Alhaji Saidu, a staff member of SCC company based in Takum, informed the police that at around 9:15 AM on the same day, Itamar was abducted by armed assailants while traveling in the area.

Upon receiving the distress call, the DPO of Takum Division, in coordination with personnel from the 67 PMF, the military, and local hunters, immediately launched a rescue operation. The team conducted an extensive search and rescue mission, which led to the successful recovery of the victim in Kofai Ahmadu after a gun battle with the criminals. The assailants were forced to retreat and flee the scene.

Itamar is currently receiving medical attention at the SCC company’s medical facility in Takum. Efforts are underway to track down and apprehend the fleeing criminals.

The Commissioner of Police in Taraba, Bretet Emmanuel, praised the officers involved in the successful operation and reassured the public that the police will continue to prioritize the safety and security of Taraba State’s residents. He further warned criminal elements to leave the state, promising that the police would make it increasingly difficult for them to operate in the region.
