Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has issued an apology to Lagosians who were affected by the hours-long traffic gridlock caused by repair work on the Independence Bridge.
The bridge’s closure for maintenance resulted in thousands of commuters being stranded between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning. Photos and videos of the frustrated passengers quickly went viral on social media, leading to widespread criticism.
In response, Governor Sanwo-Olu visited the area on Thursday morning to assess the ongoing work. He expressed regret over the traffic chaos and acknowledged that better communication with residents about the closure was necessary to avoid the inconvenience.
