Florence Eshalomi, a British-Nigerian politician and Member of Parliament for Vauxhall and Camberwell Green, has been appointed as the United Kingdom's new trade envoy to Nigeria. Eshalomi, 44, holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political and International Studies with Law from Middlesex University.

Her appointment makes her the second Nigerian to hold this role.

The UK’s Business and Trade Secretary, Jonathan Reynolds, announced the appointment on Tuesday, highlighting the goal of attracting investment to the UK and boosting economic growth. “I’ve launched a new team of trade envoys to leverage their expertise in unlocking new markets and fostering investment into the UK,” Reynolds said.

Eshalomi expressed her excitement on X (formerly Twitter) about her new role: “It is an honour to be appointed as the UK’s Trade Envoy to Nigeria. I look forward to strengthening the relationship between our two nations and exploring shared growth opportunities,” she stated.
