Nigerian rapper Speed Darlington has claimed that he narrowly escaped an assassination attempt on Monday, shortly after being released from Kuje prison.
In a post on X, Darlington revealed that the incident occurred in the early hours of Monday while he was returning from a club in Lagos’ Victoria Island area. He accused a "long face" of sending assassins after him, despite not having posted anything controversial recently.
In an Instagram video, Darlington showed the damage done to his car, which had multiple bullet holes from gunmen who reportedly shot at the vehicle. He expressed shock and anger in the footage, asking, "Bro, is this necessary? You tried to take my life. Really?" He also suggested that the threat might be linked to previous tensions, stating, "I never said anything, and now they’re sending killers—what are they scared of?"
Darlington was recently released from detention at Kuje prison under unclear circumstances, and the attempt on his life raises further questions about his safety.
