The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested two individuals suspected of involvement in a recent burglary and recovered stolen goods valued at millions of naira.

In a statement issued in Uyo, the police spokesperson, Deputy Superintendent Timfon John, identified the suspects as Moses Godwill Ndiong and Abraham Udo. The pair were apprehended on January 20, 2025, following a tip-off from a concerned citizen regarding a burglary at a residence in Okpokpong, Eket Local Government Area.

"The suspects, Moses Godwill Ndiong and Abraham Udo, were arrested around 4:00 AM on January 20, 2025, after the police received reliable intelligence about the burglary," the statement said.

According to John, Commissioner of Police Baba Mohammed Azare immediately dispatched a team of officers to the scene. The suspects were arrested and confessed to the crime during questioning.

Recovered items from the suspects included tools used in the burglary (cutter and pliers), electronics such as a 65-inch LG Smart TV, a 42-inch LG LED TV, a 32-inch LG LED TV, a Sony Home Theatre System, a 2900 SUMEC Generator, a Toyota Camry car (registration number KY984EKY), six pairs of shoes, and electrical cables.

While investigations continue, the police commended the alert citizen whose timely report led to the swift capture of the suspects. The police also urged other residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies promptly.
