The Central Results Delivery Coordination Unit (CRDCU) has recommended reviewing the draft policy on sanctions for airlines in light of frequent flight delays and cancellations.
In a statement posted on the CRDCU’s Twitter, Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination, Hadiza Bala Usman, emphasized the need for stricter measures following the growing impact on passengers. Usman also suggested revising the 224-day target for resolving customer complaints, deeming it unrealistic and in need of alignment with global standards.
During a review meeting of the Q1–Q3 2024 Performance Assessment Report, Usman met with officials from the Ministry of Aviation, including Minister Festus Keyamo and heads of relevant agencies, commending the ministry for progress while calling for improved transparency and customer engagement.
The review of the sanctions policy aims to address persistent issues in the aviation sector, ensuring passengers’ rights are better protected.
