The Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) FCTA has initiated a three-day warning strike over unpaid salaries, allowances, and other unmet demands. The strike has disrupted activities across government hospitals in Abuja.
Dr. George Ebong, ARD FCTA President, stated the strike followed the expiration of a three-week ultimatum given to the government last year. He expressed dissatisfaction with the neglect of hospitals and the welfare of doctors, urging the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, to intervene to avoid an indefinite shutdown.
The strike, covering hospitals across Abuja from Wuse to Asokoro, began after a congress vote. Dr. Ebong highlighted that despite multiple meetings, the government failed to address the issue, including the non-payment of six months' arrears. He warned that without action, the strike would escalate to an indefinite one.
