The National Association of Telecoms Subscribers (NATCOMS) has strongly opposed the recent 50% tariff hike approved by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), describing it as unacceptable and burdensome for consumers already facing high living costs.
The NCC’s decision followed requests from the Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON) and the Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON), which argued that an increase was necessary to sustain operations amid rising costs in other sectors, such as aviation and power.
