Russia's defense ministry reported on Tuesday that its air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 55 Ukrainian drones overnight, targeting six regions within Russia. The western Voronezh region, near the Ukrainian border, saw six drones shot down.
Governor Alexander Gusev of Voronezh confirmed that falling drone debris ignited a new fire at a fuel depot, which had been damaged by another drone strike just days earlier. No injuries were reported, and local firefighters are working to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby areas.
The conflict between Russia and Ukraine has intensified in recent months, with both sides escalating attacks in anticipation of shifts in global leadership, including the potential return of Donald Trump to the U.S. presidency, who has pledged to cut military aid to Ukraine.
