BREAKING: Fire Engulfs Six-Storey Afriland Tower on Lagos Island, Occupants Evacuated

A fire outbreak on Tuesday afternoon affected Afriland Tower, a six-storey building on Broad Street, Lagos Island, prompting swift evacuation and emergency response.

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the incident was reported at about 1:38 p.m., with crews from the Ebute Elefun and Sari Iganmu fire stations deployed immediately.

In a statement signed by Deputy Controller General Ogabi Olajide, the fire originated in the inverter room at the building’s basement, causing thick smoke to spread across several floors.

“Evacuation of occupants is in progress, while firefighting operations have been concluded, dousing the earlier panic before the arrival of first responders,” the agency said.

As of press time, no casualties have been reported.
