Nigerian Police Under Egbetokun Pay ₦507m In One Day To Renovate IGP Guest House
A review of Nigeria’s public payments portal, Govspend, has revealed that the Nigeria Police Force, under Inspector-General Kayode Egbetokun, disbursed ₦507.5 million in a single day to renovate and furnish the IGP’s Maitama guest house.
The payments, made on December 7, 2023, went in two tranches to Beckybliss Nigeria Limited — ₦153.4 million and ₦354.1 million. The company’s owner, Rebecca Omokamo Godwin (aka Bilikisu Ishaku Aliyu), is currently facing trial for alleged fraud and is under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
This revelation comes amid earlier reports that the police under Egbetokun spent ₦86 million on Christmas decorations for Force Headquarters and the IGP’s residences, and ₦59.4 million on IGP-branded towels within eight months.
The latest disclosure has raised further concerns about alleged financial mismanagement and questionable contract awards within the police force.
