Court Jails Businessman 3 Years for N2.3m Fraud in Maiduguri
Justice Muhammad Maina of the Borno State High Court, Maiduguri, on Monday, August 4, 2025, sentenced businessman Alhaji Mala Gana to three years imprisonment for criminal misappropriation of N2.36 million.
Gana was arraigned by the EFCC on March 19, 2025, for dishonestly misusing funds entrusted to him by one Alhaji Goni Umar for the supply of food items. Initially pleading not guilty, Gana later changed his plea to guilty and fully refunded the amount.
The court convicted him and gave him the option of paying a N200,000 fine or serving the full jail term.
