  • Soludo’s son Ozonna fires back at critics: I won’t change to please anyone.

Ozonna Soludo, son of Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo, has responded to the criticism he frequently faces from Nigerians on social media, saying he has no intention of changing who he is to satisfy anyone.

Speaking in a recent interview with content creator Goodybagg, Ozonna said that being visible and confident naturally attracts negative attention, but he remains unbothered.

I think it just kind of comes with it. Anybody that is visible and confident, you are going to get hate. I’m not going to apologise to them for not liking me; I’m going to keep being myself, he said.

I don’t do this to be liked by everyone because I have a very strong sense of myself, and I’m not willing to apologise for that. We are billions of people on the planet, and we are all different.

His remarks come weeks after he sparked debate online by joining the viral ‘What’s in your bag’ challenge, where he revealed the contents of his personal bag.

While many praised his honesty and individuality, others criticised him harshly — with some making intrusive comments about his upbringing and sexuality.

Despite the backlash, Ozonna insists he will continue to live authentically, saying he has no plans to dim his confidence for anyone’s approval.

  • US Revokes Wole Soyinka’s Visa02-APR-2024.

Nobel laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, has revealed that his American visa has been revoked permanently by the United States government.

Soyinka, who disclosed this during a media parley in Lagos on Tuesday, said he received the revocation letter from the US Consulate on Thursday, October 23, 2025.

Reading the letter aloud at the event themed “Unending Saga: Idi Amin In Whiteface!” held at the Freedom Park, Lagos, Soyinka suggested that the decision appeared to be linked to his long-standing criticism of the policies of US President, Donald Trump.

The letter from the US Consulate, which he read publicly, partly stated, “Dear Mr Soyinka, this letter serves as official notification of the United States Consulate that the non-immigrant visa listed below has been revoked in pursuant to the Department of State Regulations 22 CFR 41.122 and is no longer valid for application into the United States. Additional information became available after the below visa was issued. This revocation refers only to the visa listed below.

Name of visa holder: SOYINKA, WOLE
Date and place of birth: 13-JUL-1934, NIGERIA
    Visa classification(symbol): B1/B2
Date and place of visa issuance: 02-APR-2024, Lagos.”

The playwright, who resides in Nigeria, insisted that he bore no resentment over the matter.

“I will continue to welcome any American to my home if they have anything legitimate to do with me,” he said.

Soyinka stressed that his criticism of world leaders, including Donald Trump, was rooted in his role as a global citizen committed to speaking against racism, injustice, and bad governance.

It will be recalled that in December 2016, shortly after Trump’s electoral victory, Soyinka publicly tore up his US Green Card in protest, declaring his disapproval of the new administration.

  • Ogun Govt seals Adatan market, restaurant over environmental infractions.

The Ogun State Government has sealed the Adatan Market in Abeokuta for environmental infractions and illegal roadside trading.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency, OGEPA, Farouk Akintunde, who also doubles as the Chairman Ogun State Task Force on Environmental Compliance, made this known to journalists after an enforcement exercise on Tuesday.

Akintunde explained that Adatan Market was sealed due to traders dumping refuse indiscriminately in drainage channels and displaying goods on the walkways and drainages.

He warned that the government would no longer tolerate disregard for environmental regulations.

“Market traders across Ogun State should take ownership of drainage channels in front of their shops, desilt and clear them to prevent flooding, while they should also note that Thursday of the week has been set aside in Ogun State for markets to observe sanitation which must be strictly adhered to,” he said.

Akintunde revealed that the enforcement and eventual closure of the market followed several months of warnings and engagements with traders which they refused to yield to.

The OGEPA boss noted that the series of enforcement actions underscored the state government’s zero tolerance for environmental pollution and its renewed commitment to keeping the state clean.

Subsequently, Alaga Restaurant along Mercy road, Panseke and Cintinatti Bar in Oke-Ilewo, both in Abeokuta, were also sealed for poor management of waste water, discharged into the environment.

  • No Asiwaju Cap, No Exco’ – Edo APC Move To Suspend Commissioners Over Loyalty To Tinubu.

The Edo State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Jarrett Tenebe, has issued a stern warning that any commissioner who flouts Governor Monday Okpebholo’s directive to wear the ‘Asiwaju cap’ to State Executive Council meetings will face suspension from the party.

Governor Okpebholo had, on October 14, while swearing in newly cleared commissioners and inaugurating boards and commissions, directed all cabinet members to demonstrate loyalty to President Bola Tinubu by appearing in branded party outfits, including the symbolic ‘Asiwaju cap’.

Addressing reporters on the matter, Tenebe described disobedience to the governor’s order as a serious act of defiance against party authority and discipline.

“If you refuse to wear the cap as the governor has directed, we will suspend you. That is indiscipline and insubordination,” he said firmly.

The APC chairman maintained that the governor’s instruction was not optional but a clear demonstration of loyalty to both the party and its leader, President Tinubu.

Edo APC’s 3.5 Million Votes Pledge
Tenebe linked the cap directive to a broader political strategy by the state chapter of the APC to guarantee massive electoral support for President Tinubu.

“We are doing this because we have made a promise that 3.5 million votes are guaranteed for President Bola Tinubu. Everybody has keyed into achieving that target,” he declared.

According to him, party loyalty cannot be compromised, particularly for those who benefited from appointments through the APC.

  • Terrorists Threaten To Bomb National Assembly.

The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Internal Security, Hon. Garba Ibrahim Muhammad, has disclosed that terrorists have issued threats to bomb the National Assembly Complex.

Garba made the revelation on Tuesday during a public hearing on a bill seeking to establish a Legislative Security Directorate, designed to enhance security management and safeguard lawmakers, staff, and visitors within the National Assembly.

“We have received threats from terrorists to bomb the National Assembly Complex and threats from protesters to lock up the National Assembly,” Garba stated.

The lawmaker said the legislature, Nigeria’s seat of democracy, has been increasingly exposed to security threats including car and motorcycle theft, vandalism, infiltration by unregistered visitors, and use of fake identity cards.

He warned that failure to address the lapses could disrupt legislative activities with grave implications for governance and democracy.

He cautioned, “It is obvious that with the ongoing security challenges, if proper measures are not taken, it will truncate legislative activities in the National Assembly. If activities are thwarted, there will be no representation, no oversight, no annual budget, no plenary at all, and that will destabilize legislative procedure, democracy, and the nation at large.”

According to Garba, effective security management requires a coordinated approach, integrating multiple elements to ensure a safe environment for legislative business.

“That is why this Bill is very important. It seeks to address all these challenges and adopt world best practices in parliamentary security procedures and architecture,” he explained.

Nigerian rapper Emeka Akumefule, better known as Blaqbonez, has been accused of cyber harassment, blackmail, and invasion of privacy in a legal petition filed by the solicitors of a woman identified as Jane Doe.

The law firm Bristol & Mortglass C.S., in a statement on Sunday, alleged that their client suffered emotional distress and continuous online harassment after rejecting the artiste’s romantic advances in December 2024.

The petition claimed that Blaqbonez unlawfully obtained and circulated private video content belonging to the woman without her consent.

The lawyers stated that the woman endured months of humiliation, intimidation, and false accusations spread on social media.

They added that several attempts to make the rapper stop the alleged actions were ignored, forcing their client to seek police intervention.

According to the petition, the woman’s ordeal has caused deep emotional trauma and fear for her safety in Lagos.

The firm said the rapper’s conduct violated several laws, including the Cybercrimes Act 2015, the Violence Against Persons Act 2015, and the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

Bristol & Mortglass C.S. also revealed that another law firm, TIA Solicitors, had earlier written to Blaqbonez in December 2024 and January 2025, requesting the deletion of private materials, a public apology, and a payment of ₦200 million in damages.

  • We Must Win By Whatever Means Necessary” – Former INEC Boss Exposes Politicians Dangerous Mindset.

Former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Attahiru Jega, has condemned the desperation of Nigerian politicians to undermine the integrity of the nation’s electoral process.

Speaking in Abuja while delivering a keynote address at the joint graduation ceremony of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies and the University of Benin, Jega warned that such a “do-or-die” attitude poses a threat to democratic development.

Jega lamented that the politicians’ attitude towards elections has eroded public trust in the Democratic process.

He pointed out that despite 25 years of uninterrupted democracy since 1999, Nigeria still struggles with electoral malpractice, violence, and widespread distrust in the electoral system.

He said, “When we see the desperation of these politicians, it is very clear, as former President Obasanjo said, that they engage with elections with a ‘do-or-die’ mentality. We must win by whatever means are necessary.

“No elections are perfect and none are likely to ever be,” he admitted, stressing that electoral integrity “is relative and measured as a continuum from the extreme worst-case scenario to the ideal best-case scenario.”

Jega noted that Nigeria’s political landscape has for decades been tainted by the pursuit of power at all costs, adding that fixing the country’s electoral process would require “continuous concerted efforts”.

“The credibility of elections has a direct correlation with the quality of representation and governance,” he added.

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Timi Frank, has condemned the declaration of Paul Biya as winner of the recent presidential election in Cameroon.

Frank in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday, described the announcement of the 93-year-old Biya as an insult to democracy and a brazen fraud that must be rejected by all who believe in justice and freedom.

He said, “The so-called results announced by the regime are a fabrication and a clear subversion of the people’s will.

“The world must not stand by while democracy in Cameroon is strangled in broad daylight.”

He lamented that peaceful protesters who took to the streets to denounce the daylight robbery of their votes have been met with gunfire, brutality, and mass arrests.

“Innocent Cameroonians are being killed by their own security forces simply for demanding that their votes count.

“This bloodshed must end immediately. Those who ordered and carried out these killings must be held personally accountable before international law.

“The International Criminal Court (ICC) and the United Nations (UN) must investigate and ensure that justice is done.”

  • Without Yahaya Bello APC Will Lose Kogi In 2027 – Commissioner Warns.

Commissioner for Solid Minerals, Bashir Gegu, has warned that the All Progressives Congress (APC) might lose Kogi State in the 2027 general elections if President Bola Tinubu sidelines former Governor Yahaya Bello.

Gegu gave the warning at a political gathering at a Kogi Local Council.

He argued that Bello remains the architect of the state’s current political structure and a decisive factor in the ruling party’s continued dominance.

The speech, which he shared on his Facebook page, quoted the commissioner as saying, “If former Governor Yahaya Bello is not carried along, APC cannot win Kogi State. That is the plain truth.”

He dismissed social media’s criticism of a recent rally in Lokoja, insisting it was not about power play, but an expression of gratitude to Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for their leadership.

Gegu added, “The rally was a show of appreciation, not a protest. But let no one make the mistake, without Yahaya Bello, there’s no APC victory in Kogi.”

The commissioner credited Bello for laying the groundwork for political stability and federal visibility in the state, saying his influence still cuts across all districts.

  • KANU DECLINES TO ENTER DEFENCE, INSISTS NO CASE AGAINST HIM.

The leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has refused to open his defence in his ongoing trial for alleged terrorism offences, insisting that there is no valid case against him.

Kanu had earlier indicated plans to call witnesses and even applied for a witness summons, requesting additional time to review his case file. However, at the resumed hearing, he informed the court that after studying the file, he found no legitimate charge warranting a defence.

He told the court that he believes the entire trial process is unlawful, hence there is no need to proceed with any defence.

Justice James Omotosho, presiding over the case, directed Kanu to file a written response detailing his stance and serve it on the prosecution. The judge also advised him to consult criminal law experts on the possible legal consequences of his decision.

The case was subsequently adjourned until November 4th, 5th, and 6th for the adoption of final written addresses, depending on whether the court agrees that the evidence and charges so far have failed to establish a case against the defendant — or for Kanu to reconsider and enter his defence.

His arrest followed a #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest outside the court, which was dispersed by police officers using tear gas and warning sh+ts. The demonstration was organized to demand the unconditional release of Kanu, who has been in detention since 2021.

On October 24, the Kuje Magistrate Court granted Sowore and others arrested alongside him bail in the sum of ₦500,000 each. The court, presided over by Abubakar Umar Sai’I’d, also ordered each defendant to submit their National Identification Number (NIN), three-year tax clearance certificate, and passport as part of the bail conditions.

Sowore was arraigned alongside Emmanuel Kanu, Nnamdi Kanu’s brother, and Kanu’s lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor. The police accused them of unlawful assembly and disturbance of public peace, alleging they trespassed into restricted areas during the protest.

His release marks the end of a four-day detention that began with his arrest on October 23.

  • 82-Year-Old Ouattara Wins Fourth Term With 89.77% in Ivory Coast Election.

Ivory Coast’s President Alassane Ouattara has secured a fourth term in office after winning 89.77 percent of the votes in Saturday’s election, the country’s electoral commission announced on Monday.

The poll, which excluded Ouattara’s two strongest rivals, saw nearly nine million Ivorians eligible to vote in the world’s top cocoa-producing nation.

Despite fears of unrest, voting took place peacefully, although tensions had soared in the lead-up to the election following opposition complaints over disqualifications.

Provisional results showed Ouattara sweeping the polls across most regions, with voter turnout reaching almost 100 percent in his northern strongholds. He also made surprising gains in southern areas and parts of Abidjan, traditionally considered opposition territory, where many polling stations recorded low turnout.

Entrepreneur Jean-Louis Billon finished a distant second with 3.09 percent of the vote, according to the commission’s president, Ibrahime Kuibiert Coulibaly. Turnout stood at 50.10 percent — similar to the 2020 election, when Ouattara won 94 percent amid an opposition boycott.

The 82-year-old leader, who first took power in 2011, remains a dominant figure in Ivorian politics. His victory underscores his continued grip on power in a country that has largely resisted the coups and insurgencies destabilizing other parts of West Africa.
