Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja has scheduled June 27, 2025, to deliver judgment in the legal suit filed by suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who is challenging her suspension from the Senate.

Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, approached the court following her suspension by the Senate, led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio. Her suspension was linked to allegations of misconduct, which she claims stemmed from bias by involved parties.

In her suit, the embattled senator listed the National Assembly, the Senate, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Senator Neda Imasuen — Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Code of Conduct — as defendants.

The case was initially presided over by Justice Obiorah Egwuatu, who later recused himself. It was then reassigned to Justice Nyako.

During Monday’s proceedings, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s counsel, Jibrin Okutekpa (SAN), informed the court that all necessary documents, as earlier directed, had been duly filed.

Counsel for the Senate, Paul Daudu (SAN), and counsel for the Senate President, Ekwo Ejembi, confirmed they had also filed their responses but drew the court’s attention to a motion accusing the plaintiff of disobeying a previous court order.

According to them, the plaintiff allegedly violated court directives by publishing a satirical letter addressed to the Senate President on her Facebook page and in several national newspapers on March 27.

Michael Numan (SAN), also representing the plaintiff, acknowledged receipt of the motion but argued that the content in question had no direct connection to his client. He further reminded the court that a separate contempt motion had earlier been filed against the defendants themselves.

Justice Nyako, after hearing arguments from both sides, fixed June 27 for final judgment on the matter.
