There are important details which are always crucial whenever you launch a skill. First off the bat: Why is this an elite skill? Does it go up to 120? Archaeology is not an elite skill. It's a skill that everyone is able to play as soon as it falls, and we can reveal Archaeology will probably be going up to 120 on launch. As you can see from everything we've talked about, we have spent a lot of time, enjoy, sweaty buttocks and dirty mattocks in packaging this skill into the rafters. We're convinced that there's plenty to justify going all the way to 120, and more stuff will be added to it over the year and beyond. It is worth noting that here will be an embargo on incentive XP, lamps and other ability boosts until six-months after launching.
We also wanted to try something new together with the ability, to remove the barriers from experiencing it. We will be increasing the skill cap for free-to-play to 20 on launch of this ability, giving everyone the Kharid-Et dig site to play in. If it goes well - and also the outcomes of the yearly poll seem to suggest that it could be accepted - then we'd look to roll this out across all abilities and examine additional skill milestones.
We also have the Archaeology Elite skilling outfit, coming out on launching of the skill. This is entirely gained from Archaeology, and this will use something aside from the fragment system that you might be used to. You will need to do some very special things to get it.
