In a successful clearance operation, Nigerian Army troops have neutralized three bandits, destroyed several criminal camps, and recovered arms and ammunition in the Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The operation, carried out on April 5, 2025, is part of the ongoing military efforts under Operation Lafiya Jamaa, aimed at rooting out criminal elements from the region.
According to a statement issued by Captain Olubodunde Oni, the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 6 Brigade, the operation targeted suspected bandits’ hideouts. Troops advanced to Achalle, where they conducted a thorough sweep of the area before pushing further into Chibi.
“Upon reaching Chibi, the troops encountered the bandits, who fled as the forces approached,” the statement noted. “During the ensuing engagement, three bandits were neutralized, and several makeshift camps were destroyed. Two motorcycles, one AK-47 magazine, and 13 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition were also recovered from the site.”
The troops continued their operations by combing the Dutsen Zaki and Achalle areas, where over seventy criminal camps have been dismantled in recent weeks. No signs of human activity were detected during this latest sweep, underscoring the effectiveness of prior operations.
Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, the Commander of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, commended the troops for their perseverance and tactical success. He assured the people of Taraba State that terrorists and criminal elements would have no refuge in the state. He also urged residents to stay vigilant and continue with their daily activities without fear, while emphasizing the importance of providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts.
The operation forms part of broader efforts to ensure the safety and security of communities in Taraba State.
