Delta Plane Crashes in Toronto, Flips Upside Down; At Least 18 Injured

A Delta Airlines jet crashed at Toronto Pearson Airport, flipping upside down after landing, injuring 18 people. No fatalities were reported, and investigations are underway into the cause of the incident.

A Delta Air Lines jet carrying 80 people crash-landed at Toronto Pearson Airport on February 17, 2025, flipping upside down. The accident injured at least 18 individuals but resulted in no fatalities.

The flight, Endeavor Air Flight 4819, was traveling from Minneapolis, Minnesota, with 76 passengers and four crew members. The cause of the crash and how the plane ended up flipped with its wings clipped remains unclear.

Todd Aitken, the airport’s fire chief, confirmed that 18 people were injured, including three critically injured—a child, a man in his 60s, and a woman in her 40s. All injured passengers were transported to nearby hospitals by ambulance or helicopter.

Images from the scene showed passengers emerging from the overturned plane, shielding their faces from strong winds and blowing snow. Fire crews quickly responded, extinguishing the aircraft and evacuating the passengers. Toronto airport authorities stated that the incident did not involve any other planes, and the airport resumed flights around 5:00 pm after a temporary suspension.

A passenger on board, John Nelson, shared a video of the overturned plane, stating that most passengers appeared to be okay. Delta confirmed the incident, offering condolences and stating that there were no fatalities.

A massive snowstorm had hit eastern Canada, causing severe weather conditions that affected air travel, but the snow had stopped by the time of the crash. The Canadian Transportation Safety Board, along with the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, has launched investigations into the cause of the incident.

The crash follows a series of recent air incidents in North America, including a deadly mid-air collision in Washington and a fatal medical plane crash in Philadelphia.
