The exams, conducted from October 25 to December 20, 2024, featured a new hybrid computer-based mode alongside the traditional paper-and-pen option.
WAEC’s Acting Head of Public Affairs, Moyosola F. Adesina, confirmed that 65,023 candidates sat for the exam across 5,067 centers, a 20% decrease compared to the previous year. Of the total candidates, 95.9% had their results fully processed and released promptly.
A performance breakdown shows that 53.64% of candidates secured five credits, including English and Mathematics, marking a 9.35% increase over 2023 results. However, 2,577 candidates (3.96%) had their results withheld due to allegations of examination malpractice. These candidates are encouraged to visit the WAEC portal to resolve the issues.
WAEC also revealed that out of the candidates who sat for the exam, 43,923 (67.55%) obtained credit in at least five subjects, while 34,878 (53.64%) earned credit in five subjects, including English and Mathematics. This marks a significant improvement from previous years.
The Council continues to encourage candidates to check their results via the official WAEC portal and take necessary actions where needed, including applying for digital and hard copies of their certificates. The full statement was issued by WAEC’s Public Affairs Department on February 16, 2025.
