Court of Appeal in Ibadan affirms Oba Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye’s enthronement as Soun of Ogbomosoland. The ruling overturns the lower court’s decision that had annulled his selection by the kingmakers.
The Court of Appeal in Ibadan has upheld the selection and enthronement of Oba Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye as the Soun of Ogbomosoland, overturning a previous ruling that had nullified his appointment.
The decision came after a three-member panel of justices, led by Justice Yargata Nimpar, reviewed the appeal. The lower court’s earlier judgment, delivered by Justice Adedokun, had declared the selection process invalid, citing a failure to follow due procedure in the appointment of Oba Ghandi.
Justice Adedokun had ordered a new selection process, deeming Oba Ghandi’s enthronement illegal. However, the appeal court’s ruling resolved the matter, affirming the kingmakers’ decision and putting an end to the disputes surrounding the enthronement of Oba Ghandi as Soun of Ogbomosoland.
