The Nigerian Navy has confiscated 1,400 litres of illegally refined oil in Ondo State. This action is part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal oil refining and related activities in the region.
The Quick Response Team of the Naval Outpost, Agadagba, in Ese Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State, intercepted a locally built wooden boat carrying illegally refined petroleum products. Led by the Base Operations Officer of FOB Igbokoda, the team seized 1,400 litres of illicit oil stored in 44 jerry cans.
In response to the operation, Navy Captain Aliyu Usman, Commander of FOB Igbokoda, issued a firm warning to oil thieves, urging them to avoid the region. He confirmed that both the boat and its contents would be deactivated according to Defence Headquarters’ regulations.
Usman emphasized the Navy’s unwavering commitment to securing Nigeria’s maritime environment and eliminating illegal activities. He called on perpetrators of economic sabotage and other criminal acts to cease immediately, reinforcing the Navy’s resolve to protect national assets from criminal elements.
