A Catholic bishop in Niger State officiated a mass wedding ceremony for 21 couples. The event celebrated love and unity, bringing together couples from various communities.
The Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Bulus Yohanna, recently officiated a mass wedding for 21 couples in Niger State.
The ceremony, held at St. Mark Catholic Church in Nsanji Nkoso, Magama Local Government Area, united couples who had completed their traditional marriage rites and undergone three months of counseling. Bishop Yohanna emphasized the importance of proper church marriage to ensure couples are recognized in the eyes of the church, stating that cohabitation without a church blessing is wrong.
He encouraged the couples to build their marriages on love and mutual respect, highlighting the lifelong commitment that marriage represents. One of the couples, Mr. and Mrs. Cyprian Uche, who had been together for 22 years and have five children, expressed their joy at finally being officially married. Mrs. Uche also noted that her new status would allow her to participate in the women’s fellowship, a position she had been previously unable to hold.
Rev. Fr. Francis Joshua, the parish priest, praised the couples for completing their counseling and meeting all requirements. He commended the bishop for his dedication to ensuring the couples were properly married and urged them to honor their vows faithfully.
